Clean Heat Standard

We can't afford increases in heating.

In 2020, Vermont passed the Global Warming Solutions Act, aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions dramatically by 2025, 2030, and 2050.

To meet these goals, the legislature passed the so-called “Affordable Heat Act” in 2023. But according to a WCAX report, it will cost Vermonters a staggering $17.3 billion — that's about $665 million every year. Spread across Vermont’s 266,000 households, that means roughly $2,500 more per household annually.

In 2025, I cosponsored H.16 to repeal the Clean Heat Standard. Despite repeated efforts, the majority party has blocked these repeal attempts. I will keep fighting to protect Vermonters from rising heating costs.
